About the Position

As the Tax Manager, you will work at a variety of levels and in a variety of industries such as Investments, high net worth individuals, owner-managed businesses, cross-border work, and more.

You will be required to complete the necessary forms for the clients or for the businesses in which they work while ensuring compliance and advising executive leadership/clients on best practices and emerging issues related to tax.

Summary of Responsibilities

\xc2\xb7 Work closely with senior team member and partners in all aspects of corporate tax initiatives and in the development and implementation of long term tax planning strategies for various clients.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with Tax Partners and other senior staff; actively identifying, evaluating and resolving tax risks and exposures.

\xc2\xb7 Manage a vast array of clients and overseeing multiple client engagements across various industries.

\xc2\xb7 Communicate and liaise with tax authorities and clients with matters concerning tax audits, appeals and tax positions.

\xc2\xb7 Prepare and review personal, corporate, trust and partnership tax returns along with other tax information forms and also preparing various tax election forms.

\xc2\xb7 Identify and document tax filing positions including risk analysis.

\xc2\xb7 Develop and implement tax strategies for clients to capitalize on business opportunities and documenting these tax strategies in memos or client letters.

\xc2\xb7 Manage tax compliance and consulting engagements and advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies, where applicable.

\xc2\xb7 Proactively resolve tax related issues with clients and other staff members through direct contact with clients, researching tax issues and documenting this research in tax memos or client letters.

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to client satisfaction by developing strong client relationships and providing them with quality, timely and responsive services and work products.

\xc2\xb7 Discuss complex tax issues with the engagement team and client management.

\xc2\xb7 Manage a portfolio of clients of varying size and scope and act as the point of contact for internal and external clients.

\xc2\xb7 Keep informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.

\xc2\xb7 Prepare practical and effective approaches to the client\'s tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions.

\xc2\xb7 Review tax provisions, corporate tax filings, and information returns prepared by junior accountants.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate and review the preparation of tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures for cross-border operations by ensuring accurate and timely reporting of tax liabilities, deferred tax assets/liabilities, and tax reserves in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct research and analysis to assess the impact of tax law changes on the organization\'s cross-border activities and provide proactive recommendations.

\xc2\xb7 Stay abreast of changes in international tax laws, regulations, and emerging trends.

\xc2\xb7 Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on tax developments and applying them in practical situations

Summary of Experience

\xc2\xb7 5+ years of recent work experience in public accounting

\xc2\xb7 5+ years of experience in tax consulting

Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

\xc2\xb7 Completion of the In-depth Tax Program or in final year of In-depth Tax Program

\xc2\xb7 Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate, personal and trust tax planning and compliance

\xc2\xb7 Ability to manage a team, delegate work and deliverables

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to engage clients to describe and market the firms\' services and deliver high-quality deliverables

\xc2\xb7 Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

\xc2\xb7 Experience preparing and reviewing domestic tax compliance and implementing tax reorganizations

\xc2\xb7 Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, JazzIt, and Quickbooks
