About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in Canadian tax and a passion for delivering high-quality client service. You will be responsible for preparing personal and corporate tax returns, conducting technical research, and supporting various tax-related functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare T1 and T2 tax returns for residents and non-residents
Draft client correspondence and responses to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
Handle indirect tax matters, including Canadian sales tax
Conduct technical research on taxation issues and apply findings to client files
Stay current with tax legislation and apply new knowledge to daily tasks
Communicate with tax authorities regarding discrepancies, assessments, and account statements
Collaborate with team members to support overall tax operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or an accounting diploma (preferred)
1-3 years of progressive experience in Canadian personal and corporate income tax
Strong numerical aptitude and familiarity with tax formulas
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Comfortable working in a paperless environment
Excellent attention to detail and a quick learner
Strong client service orientation and ability to work well in a team
Experience with iFirm Tax Prep is considered an asset
Willingness to learn new software packages and systems
Staying updated with new tools and systems relevant to the role
Working Conditions
Workdays are regular hours, 9am-5:30pm and require in office attendance 2 days/week.
May be required to work outside regular hours to meet workload demands and/or deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,000.00 per year
