TAX ANALYST (JOB NUMBER: FIN-08052022-003-MAD)

The position at a glance Support the US tax team and Canadian tax team in their various tax compliance endeavours. In detail 1- US income tax – interest deduction calculation: Supporting the US Tax compliance team on US tax provision, US tax returns and more specifically on the calculation of the interest deduction based on Separate Currency Pool method (SCP) following the Reg. 1.882-5 for the US branch group:

  • Master and document all aspects of the SCP and more specifically on the step 3 of this calculation: Worldwide Cost of funding calculation;
  • Working with various data providers from US and non US tax entities to collect the necessary information, perform the SCP calculation, and address any issues surfaced during the process;
  • Coordinate with US tax team if there are any US tax questions or concerns regarding the Proposed Regulations;
  • Prepare and support the US tax department for the various presentation meetings on this specific topic.
2- US non income tax filings:
  • Self-assessment for Sales and Use tax for all jurisdictions in the United States;
  • Commercial rent tax
  • Prepare all non-income tax filings (Annual state filings, Gross payroll tax, etc.)
  • Process US tax payments;
  • Book tax entries in the general ledger;
  • Reconciliation of tax remittance with general ledger;
3 - Other US & Canada tax matters:
  • Support tax audit;
  • May be called upon to contribute on various US tax compliance matters and projects;
  • May be called upon to contribute on various Canada tax compliance matters.


The strengths and skills that will help you succeed TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • One to three years of tax and / or accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified CPA accountant
  • Experience in US tax
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience in a financial institution
KILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
  • Strong knowledge of IT tools (Excel (Powerquery a strong asset), Word, PPT)
  • Manages its time and work efficiently;
  • Able to manage stress and prioritize;
  • Keen to learn;
  • Effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (French/English)
  • Good analytical skills and sound judgement;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment
  • Manages its time and work efficiently;
  • Able to work outside of regular hours during peak periods;
