Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled
Tax Accountant
to join our Tax team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in personal and corporate tax preparation, regulatory compliance, and accounting matters, with a solid understanding of accounting principles, complicated accounting transactions, and software. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting various financial functions including estate planning, corporate accounting, and regulatory reporting. The Tax Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate tax filings, maintaining compliance with relevant laws, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal, provincial, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations.
Conduct estate planning activities including wills, trusts, and estate law considerations.
Ensure compliance with GST rules, Canadian GAAP, and other regulatory reporting requirements per CRA and CPA requirements.
Assist with reviews and audits by preparing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
Analyze financial statements and interpret financial report data to identify tax implications and opportunities for savings.
Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; experience with financial software for asset management or investment analysis is a plus.
Perform balance sheet reconciliation and assist in budgeting processes.
Prepare detailed financial reports including financial statement preparation and interpretation for management review.
Manage accounts payable processes and oversee payroll-related accounting functions.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
Proven experience in tax accounting with familiarity in tax experience areas such as estate planning, corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or public accounting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, financial concepts, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare comprehensive reports.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform account reconciliation and financial analysis accurately.
Effective communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Tax Compliance, Tax Preparation, and Tax strategy
Strong skills in Financial Statements analysis and reporting

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
CPA designation or equivalent is required
Proficiency in relevant accounting and tax software
Familiarity with Canadian tax regulations and legislation
