As a Tactical Healthcare Security Officer at Valley Regional Hospital, you'll be on the front lines of healthcare safety, working closely with emergency staff and local law enforcement to ensure a secure and compassionate environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

What You'll Do:

Act as a visible presence within the Emergency Department Respond to coded emergencies and use verbal de-escalation techniques Assist with security planning for high-risk patients and patient restraints as needed Support hospital staff and maintain site-wide safety Conduct ID checks, monitor site access, and patrol the premises Write detailed incident reports and escalate concerns appropriately Coordinate with local law enforcement and EMS Provide support for patient watch guards

Requirements:

Must be in Kentville, Nova Scotia 1-2 years of experience in security or law enforcement High school diploma or GED Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C with AED certification Ability to obtain a Nova Scotia Security License Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and MOAB, or willingness to complete Paladin's training (covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment) Physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for 3-4-hour periods Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Nice to Have:

Diploma in Justice Studies or Police Foundations Prior experience in hospital or emergency settings
