Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
Extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment at the elementary level (preference will be given to applicants with both Grade 1 experience)
Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment at the Grade 1 levels
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
Training and successful experience in teaching early primary students using Ministry of Education Curriculum through a play-based learning approach
Demonstrated ability to plan inclusively using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), providing multiple access points for learners with diverse abilities, interests, and needs.
Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and assess Project-Based Learning (PBL) that connects Big Ideas and concepts across disciplines.
Knowledge of and experience integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning, along with local First Peoples traditions and culture.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and school community involvement.
Demonstrated experience supporting, motivating, and intervening with students through a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
Demonstrated skill and experience using daily small-group instruction as part of comprehensive literacy and numeracy frameworks.
Knowledge of and proven experience applying current assessment practices to plan and differentiate instruction, using strategies that support assessment for, of, and aslearning (e.g., District Primary Assessments, PM Benchmarks, ACT, SNAP, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to support school goals, including partnering with the community to provide meaningful learning experiences such as Place-Based Learning.
Demonstrated ability to build positive, respectful, and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents/caregivers, and community partners.
Commitment to working as an effective team member, contributing to school-wide initiatives, professional collaboration, and the School-Based Team model.
Strong organizational and instructional skills that foster a positive classroom environment, support student growth, and promote inclusive learning.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Code of Conduct, Behaviour Matrix, and school-wide behaviour and culture initiatives.
