The Opportunity
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team developing a novel medical device platform. The successful candidate will lead and support system-level testing efforts, ensuring all requirements are verified and validated in alignment with product development milestones and regulatory expectations. This position is critical to ensuring our technology is safe, effective, and ready for clinical and commercial use.
The person will be responsible for:
Developing and executing system-level V&V test plans, protocols, and reports.
Working cross-functionally to ensure traceability from system requirements to verification and validation activities.
Leading formal system testing activities, including functional, performance, safety, and usability testing.
Coordinating test execution in both bench-top, ex-vivo and animal model environments.
Documenting and managing test results, non-conformances, and deviation handling.
Supporting risk management and usability engineering processes.
Contributing to regulatory submission documentation (e.g., FDA, Health Canada).
Helping refine and improve V&V processes and procedures in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
3+ years of experience in a verification, validation, or systems engineering role, preferably in a regulated environment.
What you bring
Strong understanding of V&V principles, including test case development, execution, and defect tracking.
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA design control requirements.
Experience working with complex, multi-disciplinary systems (optical, mechanical, software, electrical).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to clearly document test procedures and results.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and test documentation tools; experience with requirements management tools is a plus.
