About the role

We are looking for a Systems Technician to provide a broad range of maintenance, communication and network support for the surface operation fleet. The Systems Technician is responsible for ensuring maximum productivity and effectiveness from the site wide systems. These site wide systems include but are not limited to Pitram, Dome, Loadman, Proximity Awareness, Komatsu Payload Management (PLM) and Structural Monitoring System (SMS).

This position reports to the Surface Production Engineer with functional accountability to Surface Operations, Projects Engineering and Asset Maintenance. You will be located at the Lac de Gras Mine site and will work a 2 week on / 2 week off rotation.

You will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining the Pitram dispatch system in, but not limited to, the following areas:
  • Troubleshooting hardware and application issues, including GPS functionality
  • Dispatch software configuration
  • Coordination with vendors for software updates, new hardware installations and system troubleshooting.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting capabilities for remotely connected vendors.
  • Identifying areas of continuous improvement with the site wide systems and champion the implementations of the improvements
  • Managing and communicating findings from the Structural Monitoring System (SMS).
  • Managing the Proximity Alert System (PAS) in but not limited to the following areas:
  • Installation and troubleshooting of hardware and tablets.
  • Updating the PAS dashboard as required.
  • Facilitating with other departments for systems functionality and maintenance repairs to the site wide systems to maximize productivity and effectiveness of the site wide systems.
  • Tracking, communicating and reporting system status updates on a weekly basis or as required.
  • Additional duties as required by business demands.
About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A strong commitment to the safety of both you and your team.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills, ability to multitask effectively and prioritize daily requirements.
  • Comfortably provide training to colleagues and leadership with the operational group.
  • Completed Grade 12 or higher; post-secondary education in IT/Communications/Applications or Electrical Trade.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Pitram or another fleet management system in a mining or industrial setting.
  • High level of proficiency and experience with Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience with SAP software system is an asset.
  • Experience with PowerBI and Sequel Server Management Studio is an asset.
  • Proficiency in office management procedures and protocols including asset management, document control and data entry.
  • A keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
