The current, centralized electricity system is not sustainable. Between the climate crisis, state-wide blackouts, aging infrastructure, and rising costs, the system needs a huge overhaul. The demand for electricity is high \xe2\x80\x93 and getting higher \xe2\x80\x93 and big power plants aren\'t meeting our needs. We say it\'s time to disrupt and decentralize.

At Peak Power, we\'re energy nerds that develop software for the real estate sector. Our tech turns commercial buildings and industrial facilities into virtual power plants in a new, decentralized electricity system. This means cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity. Peak Power develops and connects battery storage, grid-interactive buildings, and electric vehicle assets in a single software platform for partners to pursue net zero goals, cut operating expenses, and unlock new revenue opportunities.

The Opportunity

Our new Systems Integrator will:

Deliver.

• Manage all calibrations & configurations for variety of hardware solutions.
• Own and execute controller related SW builds and release activities.
• Support test strategy and test execution.
• Train & support customer facing engineering teams on Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Software controls and diagnostics, tools and processes.
• Understand and interpret control requirements from high level specifications/documents and create detailed controls approach and flow diagrams \xe2\x80\x93 concept to coding ready transition.

Report.

• Generate & maintain a good documentation of software features, diagnostics & algorithms.

Collaborate.

• Work with ESS operators, software developers, and Electrical engineers to maintain an expert understanding of ESS project.
• Work with various cross-functional teams to define requirements and implement new Revenue control logical features, diagnostics, and algorithms.

Grow.

• You are a critical thinker who can seize opportunities to create value for Peak Power\xe2\x80\x99s long-term vision for optimizing power utilization and energy storage. You will proactively identify opportunities to improve operational performance, and reliability.
• Investigate ESS field issues through data analysis and issue reproduction, and propose and validate robust solutions.

What you bring to Peak Power:

The experience and education.

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related education
• 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to program multiple control hardware platforms \xe2\x80\x93 PLCs, single board industrial computers, purpose built programmable devices (e.g. protective relays, RTUs etc. used in electric power business; IoT devices etc.)
• Exposure to programming standards as applicable (e.g. IEC 61131 -3)
• Familiarity with industry standard protocols and standards like Modbus, Sunspec, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEEE 1815.2, etc ...
• Exposure to Protection and Control as applied in electrical power systems and ability to program typical P&C devices after interpreting the settings developed by power systems engineer.
• Knowledge of industry standard methods for realizing control functions, controls safety, fail safe techniques, control reliability.

• Knowledge of metering of utilities (electricity, water, natural gas) \xe2\x80\x98for trade\xe2\x80\x99 purposes \xe2\x80\x93 exposure to Measurement Canada standards related to these measurements.

• Up to date knowledge of control products offering in the market, application engineering.
• Ability to select suitable control hardware/platforms considering cost, reliability needed for a given application, programmer productivity etc.
