As a Systems Integration Specialist - Co-op, you will gain hands-on experience ensuring the successful testing and integration of new technologies and features into Ciena's industry-leading optical networking products, including Waveserver and RLS. You will work closely with senior team members to develop and execute test plans, build automated tools, and contribute to the overall quality and performance of our systems.

How You Will Contribute:Support the development and enhancement of automated tools to interact with test equipment using Python. Assist in testing and verifying that optical networking systems meet system-level requirements. Help gather and visualize system performance metrics to improve testing efficiency. Work alongside senior team members to demonstrate proof-of-concept for new product features. Participate in lab-based testing and setup, using test equipment to validate system functionality. Collaborate with Systems Architects and Software Designers on specific tasks or investigations.


The Must-Haves:Enrolled in a University or 3-year College program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline Strong programming skills in Python. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Willingness to work on-site at Ciena's Ottawa location.


The Assets:Experience working in a lab environment and setting up test equipment. Familiarity with tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins.

Details:Location: Ottawa, Ontario (On-site) Duration: 8-12 months (Full-time)

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $33.00
