Job Description

One of our clients, a company within the defense sector, is seeking a Systems Engineer to spearhead the development of technical requirements from customer-level needs to subsystem and component-level specifications. This role involves translating high-level product goals into detailed, actionable requirements using both traditional and model-based systems engineering tools. The ideal candidate will support the transition to model-based systems engineering by building visual system models to clarify interdependencies.
Responsibilities

• Act as a technical project manager, guiding the product through the full development lifecycle.
• Collaborate across product engineering, architecture, and design to ensure alignment and risk mitigation.
• Lead design maturity reviews and critical design reviews (CDRs), both internally and with customers.
• Maintain oversight of size, weight, power, and other key performance metrics throughout the design process.
• Work closely with safety and human factors engineers to ensure compliance and usability.
• Engage with software, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure integration across all vehicle domains.
• Encourage broader team involvement in software development initiatives.

Essential Skills

• Experience in systems engineering and designing engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design and electrical engineering.
• Familiarity with the automotive industry, including wire harness, CAN, ethernet, and automotive controls.
• Academic foundation in Mechatronics Engineering.
• Experience managing the design process in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and aerospace engineering.

Work Environment
The role is team-oriented and based in an office setting with a requirement to be 100% on site.
