SCIEX is seeking a customer-focused Systems Designer to help us design, characterize and verify key technologies on world-class mass spectrometers. In this capacity, the candidate will be part of high-performing, multi-disciplinary project teams participating in all phases of product development from concept to product launch. The individual will solve design problems through collaboration with multiple technical disciplines within the engineering and science community, while following established guidelines, procedures, and design practices.

The role is located in Concord, Ontario and works as a key part of the Product Development team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Support the definition of customer, marketing (VOC) and business (VOB) needs and creation of the User Needs Document (UND).
• Lead the definition of system requirements including definition and management of the Subsystem Requirements where applicable including supporting System Verification Testing activities as required.
• Coordinate the completion of risk management with Product Compliance and wider team.
• Coordinate and lead System design reviews.
• Support tracking and reporting on technical status of the system through development including overall system reliability and cost roll-up metrics.
• Coordinate critical technical issue investigation and resolution activities on your project as required.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• A technical degree, preferable in Engineering, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Analytical Instrumentation, or a related field.
• 5+ years of new product development experience required.
• Experience with Requirements Management, Risk Management and Reliability activities a definite asset.
• Experience with Mass Spec or related technologies a definite asset.
• A hands-on approach to problem solving, willing and able to set up and configure hardware systems for testing required.
• A demonstrated history of successful product development and a broad scientific/engineering knowledge required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Application of Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) principles and tools to assess/select concept/design alternatives to improve the quality of products under development.
