About this opportunity:

Working with the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) Product Manager, the Systems Analyst will perform technical application support, development and configuration activities in accordance with Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99s application standards and best practices. This role may be engaged by Solution Architects and Business Analysts to assist in solution design efforts including analysis, design and architecture. They will collaborate with Project teams to ensure deliverables are built in accordance with defined quality standards.

In addition this role will ensure production transition is successful by ensuring application specifications are fully documented and training materials including operational support manuals are complete. This position will also participate in tier 2 or 3 application support activities including the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.

Responsibilities:

Analyze, configure, architect, implement and develop specialized software based on stated requirements.

Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement improvements that follow IT standards, practices and processes.

Assist in project work when requested by Project Managers and keep them up to date on the status of pertinent tasks.

Analyze requirements and provide recommendations on the best solution or path forward.

Collaborate with Developers, Business SMEs, Application Solution Architects, Portfolio Architects, Business Analysts, Release Coordinators and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality.

Collaborate with Cyber Security on risk assessments and mitigation.

Provide tier 2 or 3 application support, including incident, problem management, change management and major incident management.

Assess and deliver application upgrades, patches, code promotions and monitor impacts.

Is responsible for the execution of test plans, debugging and application of subsequent fixes.

Assist in the design and development of proof of concept and prototypes of solutions.

Perform detailed activity task management including task estimates and task progress updates.

Identify and evaluate risks and participate in mitigation and control activities including system upgrades.

Carry out testing of disaster recovery aligning to the Business Impact Assessments for applicable applications.

Supervise sub portfolio support (health, service provider issue, problem owner).

Support Business Partner, Enterprise Architect and Portfolio Architect on technical strategies.

Support IT control activities (SOX, Cyber, PCI) and support audits.

Handle system lifecycles (tech currency, license management).

Assist in IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization and renewals.

Accountable for delivery of defect resolution (requirements, product quality assurance, change approval/RFCs)

Accountable and/or assist in validation of support documentation currency and accuracy.

Assist in operational demand intake including analysis, shaping, facilitating prioritization and planning.

Provide domain expertise to assist with the creation of operational roadmaps.

Qualifications:

Must be willing to work in the office in downtown, Calgary.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 demonstrated experience with the following:

application support, development, configuration.

Tier 3 service role

ETRM Functional Business Analyst role

supporting and enhancing systems on: Microsoft platforms, Oracle and SQL Server databases

ETRM system development using Microsoft C# \xe2\x80\x93 preferably in Allegro Horizon and Right Angle products

working with IT in an oil and gas in the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) domain

Experience in collaborating with external Application Managed Service providers is an asset.

Good communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 both written and verbal.

Effective negotiation skills, able to facilitate collaboration between team members with differing opinions.

Solid teammate and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
