Overview:
To meet growing demand, the System Protection & Automation Engineering group within the Power Sector at TRC is seeking a System Protection Engineer (Engineer I) to work closely with a diverse team of System Protection and Automation & Integration engineers on projects for utility, generation, and municipal clients across the country. A successful applicant will be responsible for fault analysis, developing relay settings, and related documentation for protective relays and control IEDs. Expected to follow client requirements and internal company quality control and quality assurance practices. Also, expected to serve as the interface with clients, other company departments, outside consultants, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers on technically related matters occasionally. Expected to work collaboratively with the engineering lead or technical reviewer on assigned projects. The candidate will be responsible for working closely with other engineering and project management team members and tasks to coordinate overall project deliverables and be responsible for helping maintain
project budgets and schedules.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for Power systems analysis, fault current analysis, protection coordination, protective relay settings, and documentation development and review for a variety of equipment and applications.
Evaluate equipment specifications and application of new equipment based on customer and industry standards.
Develop custom logic and control schemes.
Develop relay settings and other deliverables with a focus on quality and accuracy for review by senior staff.
Complete protection coordination studies and setting calculations.
Coordinate with the project engineering lead on assigned projects and tasks.
Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping.
Responsible for effective project planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
EI/EIT preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of typical transmission, substation, and distribution protection applications
Experience with ASPEN Oneliner, AcSELerator Quickset, ETAP, SKM, CYME, or CAPE software preferred.
