About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated System Operator to join our electrical operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electrical systems within the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System. Join us and play a key role in maintaining the backbone of our electrical infrastructure.
What You Get to Do:
Operate and monitor the interconnected electrical system, ensuring compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
Execute switching orders for system maintenance, construction, commissioning, and restoration, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Use operational tools to monitor electrical and communication systems, responding to and logging events as necessary. Maintain system integrity through regular risk assessments and coordination of planned outages with internal teams and external partners.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and operational standards to maintain system security and reliability.
Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced team members, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
What you Bring:
Certification as a Journeyman Powerline Technician, Power Systems Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or a Technology Diploma related to the electrical field from a recognized institute of technology.

Strong foundation in electrical theory and SCADA systems
The successful candidate will be expected to be on call at pre-determined times throughout the year and, as such, will be required to maintain a residence within 60 minutes of Vegreville System Operations Centre (SOC) to meet service coverage requirements.
