We are currently seeking a

System Designer

for our

Calgary

, AB

office.



In accordance with established procedures, policies and available tools, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the processes, workflow and day-to-day designing of media systems to ensure its continued growth in revenue and customer satisfaction.



Responsible for providing pre & post sales Systems Design & Technical Support to the Sales & Installation Teams across the Western Region; in developing technical solutions & engineering design specifications in response to customer requirements, including adherence to budget constraints, is necessary.



The responsibilities and duties include; but are not limited to:





1. Provide Technical Support to Sales & Installation Teams across the Western Region as required


Participate in project kick-off meetings with Sales & technical resources for large-scale projects

Assist as required with site inspections in order to document technical requirements

Assist with development of preliminary sales designs, single line concepts and budgetary assessments.

Participate in RFP response content generation and system design validation


2. Distribute technical updates on new technology solutions, trends & design related suggestions


Prepare presentation summaries for Sales & Installation staff from relevant manufacturer training courses


3. Creation and maintenance of Systems Designs & Integrated Technical Solutions (engineering & design) flow functional and related drawings; in response to customer requirements, including adherence to project Bill of Materials.


Conduct technical review of quotations to ensure solution will provide intended system functionality

Conduct change order design evaluation and verification of functionality to sales quote development

Develop and maintaining of audio, video & control flow functional drawings

Generation of conduit, termination box, and cable infrastructure schedules required to meet project specifications.

Review As-built documentation from Installation Team for technical accuracy prior to CAD submission


4. Actively participate in professional development and maintain knowledge of current and new technology offered by Applied Electronics Ltd



5. Promotes all Health and Safety policies and procedures


Incumbent must take all necessary measures to ensure their health and safety at work and that of staff & subcontractors under their responsibility, while seeing to the protection of the general public. They must make sure employees under their responsibility comply with all Health & Safety instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures


6. Assists with special projects, and performs other duties as required.





Requirements / Qualifications:



Academic Training:




CTS mandatory

CTS-D and/or CTS-I industry certification (preferred)

Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Electronics, Broadcast, Telecom or other industry-related programs

Knowledge of basic networking (Preferred: IP Network Certifications and CTS-D industry certification)


Work Experience:




3-5 years of experience in system design and/or system integration


Specific Competencies:




Practical / demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices related to the design and integration of media systems (audiovisual, broadcast, IS/IT, etc.)

Proficient in reading and interpreting: system design schematics and electrical / mechanical / architectural drawings

Strong knowledge of D-Tools, AutoCAD and Visio drawing tools

Preference given to candidates with industry recognized Network Certification(s) & Crestron DMC-E certification

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks & work under pressure while adhering to project schedules

Must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

Routine on construction site, performing service and implementation tasks or, attending meetings.
