Position Summary:
The System Application Engineer will support Clear's engineering and field operations initiatives by ensuring the successful design and implementation of safe, reliable water purification systems. This role serves as a bridge between site-specific technical requirements and practical system installation, conducting site visits, encompassing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design, equipment selection, and coordination with sub-contractors and vendors. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing site visits, developing and reviewing MEP schematics, performing equipment sizing, sourcing components, and supporting projects from initial design through commissioning and testing. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and proactive, with the ability to drive timelines, maintain quality standards, and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Generate, review, and interpret installation designs and mechanical/plumbing/electrical (MEP) drawings using industry standard tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Conduct hydraulic and electrical checks to validate equipment compatibility and installation feasibility.
Conduct site visits to evaluate project requirements, assess mechanical/electrical rooms and layouts to recommend appropriate equipment solutions and installation plans.
Source mechanical and electrical integration components tailored to site constraints, coordinating with vendors to ensure compatibility and timely availability.
Identify and qualify plumbing and electrical contractors for project installations across the US.
Serve as the technical point of contact for contractors on providing guidance, as well as review contractor scopes and installation plans for consistency with Clear's engineering requirements.
Support contractors during installation and commissioning to ensure systems are installed correctly and safely.
Prepare technical documentation as well as site visit and installation reports and assist with permitting submissions and client proposals.
Track and report project progress to internal and external stakeholders; oversee installation and service coordination through standard project management platforms.
Support other project-related tasks across the engineering cycle to ensure timely and successful delivery
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
2+ years of experience in application engineering, building systems, or equipment design and plumbing/electrical system installation projects.
Strong understanding of electrical and plumbing systems in residential and commercial building environments.
Proven experience in interpreting and generating MEP drawings using standard design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Experience coordinating or supervising plumbing and/or electrical sub-contractors on installation projects.
Demonstrated experience in sourcing MEP components and engaging with vendors and manufacturers is preferred.
Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the United States for site visits and installation supervision as needed.
Professional demeanour with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Familiarity with water treatment systems, UV disinfection, or filtration technologies is considered an asset.
Key Skills:
Proficiency in reading and preparing electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or equivalent tools)
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical system issues on-site or through schematics.
Strong ability to communicate technical requirements to plumbing and electrical contractors.
Excellent skills in technical documentation, report preparation, project coordination, and stakeholder written and verbal communication.
Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Google Workspace; experienced with project management tools is an asset.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset toward problem-solving.
Adaptability in a dynamic work environment, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
Confident and professional when interacting with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams; able to work independently when needed.
