We are looking to strengthen our rapidly growing team with the addition of System Administrator. This position is part of the Digital Collaboration team that enables and accelerates modern workplace productivity and collaboration adoption, promotes awareness and usage of digital collaboration and productivity apps and provides end-to-end support, through the delivery of modern digital experience across:

Reporting to the Manager of Digital Collaboration, the System Administrator is highly proficient in multiple specialty areas providing guidance to users and managers, leading and supervising analysts and specialists to ensure the technology meets users\xe2\x80\x99 needs and requirements.

This position is responsible for providing innovation, implementation and ongoing operational support for productive and collaborative solutions as used across organization, including analysis, development, administration, and maintenance of existing and new services and solutions.

The position provides resolution to the most complex technical problems in their areas(s) of expertise related to software, infrastructure, cloud in order to ensure effective and efficient availability, deployment and maintenance of IT assets for the Provincial Government, Nova Scotia Health (NSH) and IWK in a manner that meets or exceeds the expected service standards.

The System Administrator plays a lead role in implementing and supporting the core ITIL Service Support processes to ensure consistent level of services to the user. The position supports the implementation and administration of these processes to ensure that established standardization objectives are achieved.

Primary Accountabilities

The System Administrator is responsible for:
  • Leads the development and maintenance of the architecture of enterprise/corporate productive and collaborative platform solutions and services. These services will be used across government and health.
  • Develops and maintains IT standards, reference models/materials and tools.
  • Collaborates with the Platform Lead on the development of vision, policies, guidelines and governance.
  • Leads the administration, development and maintenance of productive and collaborative platform solutions and services to meet both the functional and technical needs of the organization.
  • Supervises, sets priorities and monitors the efficiency of a team of specialists and analysts in a given area, ensuring that users\xe2\x80\x99 needs and requirements are met and service levels are attained.
  • Ensures ways of working (e.g. procedures, end-to-end support model) are established that provide support to operations, for the resolution of technically complex incidents and problems.
  • Develops and implements IT guidelines and procedures for their area of expertise, keeping in line with the objectives of the CSDS to ensure consistency and reliability of the services provided.
  • Analyses trends in IT issues and performs root cause analysis over extended periods to provide sound long-term solutions while considering the impact on other areas.
  • Provides tier 3 level technical support by troubleshooting software and implementing corrective action to ensure timely resolution of users\xe2\x80\x99 IT issues.
  • Responsible for providing expert advice and training to end users (when needed) and to other team members.
  • Collaborates with Adoption Specialists on the development of adoption strategies, provides the products\xe2\x80\x99 expertise and help clients to adopt the technologies.
  • Drives change and innovation for productive and collaborative solutions across the organization.
  • Stays current on productive and collaborative solutions including changes and updates, roadmap, and releases.
  • Analyses and reports data for management reporting and metrics, such as trend analysis, workload review, storage capacity, etc.
Qualifications and Experience

As an experienced System Administrator, you will have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science plus five (5) years related experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program plus five (5) years and six (6) months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable. You can demonstrate with evidence your experience with the following:
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Power Automate, Power Platform, SharePoint, OneDrive, Viva Suite, Planner, Project, Sway, Delve, and other digital productive and collaborative products at a deep technical level, providing subject matter expertise and technical thought leadership to the organization;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other digital productive and collaborative products administration;
  • Creative and innovative mindset with strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills;
  • Engaging with users and using qualitative and quantitative insights to identify how their needs can be met by platform product and service improvements;
  • Designing, developing, and releasing quality platform products with proficiency in agile product management techniques, such as user story writing, MVP definition, and roadmap/backlog prioritization;
  • Knowledge of the systems development life cycle;
  • Experience in leading technology change and deployments;
  • Designing and leading efficient and collaborative platform operations and support;
  • Understanding a variety of disciplines involved in digital delivery, including user research, service design, usability, analytics, accessibility, etc. through working in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Setting, monitoring, and reporting on measurable platform product performance targets;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, especially around breaking down complex structures and technology to make it understandable to a diverse group of stakeholders and customers across all levels at government and health;
  • Effective meeting facilitation skills;
  • Fostering empowered teams by delegating authority and providing coaching and support.
Certifications in Microsoft 365 and Power Platform would be considered an asset

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,091.70 - $3,631.17 Bi-Weekly
