Job Summary
To provide supervision & lead direction to Switchboard Operator I's at Eastern Health Regional Authority Hospitals in St. John's and assist the manager with relevant administrative work in the Switchboard Office. Work involves planning and implementing the procedures followed in the operation of the
city site switchboards, scheduling, directing the daily activities of subordinate operators, payroll and maintaining standards of accuracy and best practice in accordance with policy. The Switchboard Operator IID will also be responsible for maintaining and updating 6 week staffing schedule, compiling and tracking payroll submitted by the department, training new hires, as well as conduct monthly meetings with staff to ensure open communication and identify deficiencies identified by Switch Board Operators I's and other related duties as required.

Job Demands
Work demands of the job do not result in fatigue, requiring periods of rest.
There may be an occasionally requirement to lift/move objects less than 10 lbs., such as files and records up to 10 lbs.
Constant fine finger/precision work while manipulating the computer responding to requests for information, using the paging system, or checking schedules
Work is regularly impacted by interruptions and multiple time pressures/deadlines with a lack of control over work pace (i.e. emergency situations that need a co-ordinated response).Exact
results and precision are required when initiating emergency codes within the facility, or paging health care professionals

Job Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working as a Switchboard Operator I is required.
Knowledge of the switchboard Komutel program.
Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability to train staff.
Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
