Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Operate collection vehicles (automatic or standard) to pick up waste, yard waste, and recyclables. Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, route sheets, and reports. Report mechanical issues promptly and operate vehicles safely. Follow all safety standards, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean vehicle. Interact professionally with customers and the public. Supervise Helpers when assigned. Perform extra pick-ups, route observations, and assist with training as needed. Attend safety and branch meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid CDL with 1+ year commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate. Ability to safely operate trucks and meet company safety standards.
Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of vehicle systems and safe operation. Strong driving and maneuvering skills in tight areas. Ability to identify hazardous/unacceptable waste. Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in all weather.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor environment, exposed to weather, loud noise, traffic, and occasional hazardous materials. * Sitting/driving for extended periods with frequent lifting and physical activity.
