Reporting to the Recreation Manager the Pool Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming environment for all patrons, while affectively leading and managing the aquatics team. Aquatic programs are held at the Dennis Ball Swimming Pool and Lucky Lake Recreational Area, and include lane swim, swimming lessons, aquafit, public swim, family swim, and the Lucky Lake Waterslide. Duties include but not limited to:
Oversee the daily operations of the pool and Lucky Lake waterslide
Develop, promote, and advertise aquatic programs and facilities
Hire, train and supervise the aquatic staff, in consultation with the Recreation Manager
Maintain a high level of safety supervision, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed and in cases of emergency, competently administer emergency procedures
Maintain standards as set out by the Red Cross and/or Lifesaving Society and Town of Watson Lake policies
Perform daily maintenance and cleaning duties, including but not limited to pool chemistry checks and pool, changeroom, and deck cleaning
Carry out administrative duties, including staff scheduling, program coordination, and cash management
Perform daily safety and preventative maintenance checks and ensure the Recreation Manager is aware of any hazardous situations
Comply with all Town safety standards and policies and display safe work practices at all time, and;
Perform other related duties as directed by the Recreation Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 18 years of age
Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification an asset
Red Cross WSI and/or Lifesaving Society Instructor certification an asset
Pool chemistry knowledge and experience
Strong leadership skills
Excellent customer service and public relations skills
Good time management and organizational skills, and;
Willingness to work a flexible work schedule.
Additional Application Instructions Applicants with Lifesaving and Red Cross certification are preferred, however applicants who do not possess such certification may be considered based on management/supervisory skills and experience.
