We are currently seeking a Sweeper Operator - Class 5 or Class 3 Driver for our Maintenance Division based out of Calgary, AB. This is position is a 7 day on and 7 days off night shift, working 12-hour days.
What is the role?
The Sweeper Operator is part of a dedicated crew responsible for providing maintenance services to the Deerfoot Trail and Northeast and Northwest sections of the Stoney Trail. Reporting to the Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor as applicable, the job entails performing checks of the road, identifying hazards, operating a variety of equipment, and performing work throughout the year to meet commitments of contracts/agreements.
Responsibilities include:
Works with the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor and the CMSL Team to complete work required to meet expectations, standards, and timelines outlined in contracts and agreements at or below costs;
Provides services required in contract to meet specifications;
Communicates consistently with Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor as applicable. Locates and identifies hazards;
Participates with the team and promotes a positive attitude;
Ensures timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentation;
Deals with the public in a courteous professional manner;
Complies with and contributes to the improvement of the CMSL Quality and Environmental Management Systems;
Participates in training and is deemed competent to operate required equipment;
Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner; identifies maintenance required;
Ensures equipment is working and operating in a proper fashion, and completes any repair requests required with the appropriate paperwork; and
Ensure proper regular maintenance and adjustment to the sweeper.
Other duties as required.
What do we value?
Class 5 or Class 3 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
Physically able to complete labour work
Proficiency in driving heavy trucks; standard transmission is an asset
Experience related to highway maintenance is an asset
Ability to work continuously in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team as well as independently, and with minimal supervision.
