What we offer

The Sustainability Manager will play a critical role with one of Mattamy\'s Core Values - Sustainability - partnering closely with our Purchasing, Construction, and Architecture teams to drive operational efficiencies focused on carbon and waste reduction. This role will be a champion and a leader for Mattamy sustainability initiatives at the Divisional level.

What you\'ll do

  • Drive operation efficiencies with field visits to verify quantities of each construction category against financial and carbon budgets, creating appropriate plans to make necessary changes
  • Lead homebuilding team in reducing waste and recycling efforts
  • Evaluate and communicate any field take-off changes with Purchasing, Construction and Architecture to adjust as necessary
  • Conduct field audits to ensure Scopes of Work are being enforced along with quality control
  • Maintain and control trash containers throughout the community with Construction and Purchasing
  • Initiate and identify further waste and carbon reduction, as well as recyclable opportunities
  • Identify new and developing technologies that can increase the sustainability of homes
  • Educate division employees on sustainability and ways to become more environmentally friendly
  • Perform carbon accounting to determine opportunities for lower carbon alternatives
  • In collaboration with the Project Directors and Construction Director, build out road map with tangible action items to reduce site waste and usage of natural gas.
  • Track and measure concrete, steel, garbage removal volumes against established baselines and build action plans and lessons learned with project managers
What you bring
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Science, or Sustainable Building Preferred. Degrees in Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or other Business area may be considered with relevant experience
  • 1-3+ years of experience in residential single family or multi-family construction with a knowledge and understanding of residential home building disciplines and estimating
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external parties, trade partners, suppliers, and industry peers
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong focus on execution of plans and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to establish credibility, trust and build relationships with people of all levels of the organization, including but not limited to Purchasing, Design Studio, Construction, Permitting and Architecture
  • Must have or be able to obtain Excel \xe2\x80\x9cPower User\xe2\x80\x9d skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude, responsive and action oriented
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
