Your opportunity:

Part of Facilities & Services - the Sustainability Office on the St. George Campus is on an ongoing mission - to embed sustainability into the fabric of University operations and the on-campus experience. The principles of regenerative sustainability and the United Nations\' Sustainable Development Goals act as our guide towards U of T becoming a model of sustainability worldwide. We develop, support and empower U of T\'s students, faculty and staff as sustainability change agents on and off-campus. We area hub for sustainability awareness, services, and collaboration to enable and promote positive change. We collaborate with our academic partners as well as U of T Mississauga and U of T Scarborough for a more sustainable tri-campus University of Toronto. We work collaboratively with our colleagues responsible for campus stewardship to achieve our sustainability commitments.

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Sustainability Office, the Sustainability Coordinator will facilitate multiple programsand services for various sustainability initiatives across the St. George Campus.

In collaboration with the Senior Manager and Project Managers, the Sustainability Coordinator will research and develop sustainability work plans, projects and programs. Work with university colleagues to develop and oversee outreach initiatives. Oversee the planning and organization of events. Prepare presentations and outreach materials, activity reports. Develop and manage communications, social media, and website content. Track financial expenditures, maintain various databases and KPI progression. Supervise and review work of work-study students and other program participants.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising between stakeholders and/or contractors
  • Planning components of projects
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Conceptualizing special events and/or functions
  • Taking and distributing meeting minutes
  • Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program
  • Assigning and checking the work of work-study students
Essential Qualifications:
  • University degree in a related discipline such as Sustainability, Environmental Sciences.
  • Minimum three years\' related experience providing support with the development, implementation, facilitation, assessment and maintenance of sustainability programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Sound knowledge of the environmental, economic and social benefits of sustainability.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and tracking project budgets and expenditures.
  • Experience utilizing social media as an outreach mechanism, writing articles/communications and editing/maintaining web site content.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in social mediaplatforms (Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and newsletter platforms (e.g. Mailchimp).
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Wordpress (web site content management) would be an asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 11 -- $67,659 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,523. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
