We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Maki / Roll Chef.
You must have past experience as Maki maker, and know how to fillet a fish.
Our restaurant is located 5 minutes walk from Sheppard TTC subway station.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Your creativity and attention to detail will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties
Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional Japanese techniques.
Ensure all food preparation meets safety and quality standards, including proper food handling and storage practices.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus and create innovative sushi offerings that reflect seasonal ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety protocols.
Stay updated on industry trends and new cooking techniques to enhance menu offerings.
Requirements
Proven experience in the food service industry, particularly in a restaurant setting specializing in sushi or Japanese cuisine.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
Proficiency in meal preparation techniques, including fish filleting, rice cooking, and vegetable cutting.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff.
A passion for culinary arts with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Certification in food safety or culinary training is preferred but not mandatory.
