Iwami is a new concept of Modern Japanese cuisine in the heart of Toronto's financial district. We pride ourselves in our quick and easy counter service style for lunch, transitioning into a dinner destination in the evening. Our menu revolves around modern takes on Japanese cuisine, with innovative sushi rolls, and a modern Japanese kitchen.

At Iwami, the position of

Sushi Cook

is responsible for making dishes according to specifications and standards of the company. They are also required to set up their station to ensure a smooth service. The sushi cook position consists of assisting the Sushi chef with their daily tasks.

Responsibilities



Set up and stock station with all necessary supplies, and equipment Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering fish, or preparing sauces) Prepare all types of sushi, including maki, nigiri and sashimi Work with the culinary team to create a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients and raw fish Answer, report and follow executive chef and sushi chef's instructions Clean up station, ensuring that the space is in a tidy manner Stock inventory appropriately Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in a timely fashion, up to the company's standards Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES



Basic understanding of various cooking methods, food handling and preparation methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks Previous experience in a sushi restaurant is an asset. Organizational skills Flexible schedule

Prerequisites:



Conversational English is mandatory Be able to keep up in a fast paced environment Be open minded and willing to learn

Pay: From $17.20 per hour
