We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and food handling, with experience in serving and cooking sushi. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes in a dynamic restaurant environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. The Sushi Chef will play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences by preparing fresh, high-quality sushi and related Japanese cuisine.
Duties
Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and restaurant standards
Handle all aspects of food preparation, including slicing fish, rolling sushi, and garnishing plates
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Monitor ingredients for freshness and quality, ensuring proper storage and handling
Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi creations and presentation styles
Serve customers directly when necessary, providing excellent food service and product knowledge
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during peak hours
Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, cooking, and sanitation
Requirements
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within the food industry, preferably in a restaurant setting
Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, meal preparation, and food handling techniques specific to sushi
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen environments
Ability to serve customers professionally with excellent communication skills
Experience with kitchen equipment used for sushi preparation is preferred
Familiarity with restaurant operations and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Passion for Japanese cuisine and dedication to delivering high-quality dishes consistently
Prior experience in the food service industry is highly desirable
