Job Description

The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-Pass, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also provides support to an active community by organizing events and provides wellness and developmental programming. As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.

SUS Facilities Crew Member Fall 2025




Work Schedule

: 2-4 hours a week + on call shifts


Compensation

: $17.85 / hr


Reporting to

: Facilities Operations Manager



Crew members will assist in daily duties as well as the set up and tear down of chairs, tables, audio equipment for events at SUS in our bookable spaces. The role requires to follow the event floor plans and arrange chairs, tables, stages, audio equipment etc. in the requested order, to make sure all equipment is returned and that the spaces are clean and securely locked at the end of this process.





DAILY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Ensure our rental spaces are tidy and clean Vacuuming SUS office and boardrooms Unlocking boardrooms for clients Reset the Atrium Following the task sheet provided Provide coverage for the Info Desk to support students with inquiries on UPass, Shuttle, and Health and Dental benefits. Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements outlined by WorkSafe BC and SUS protocols; Other tasks as assigned, to support the day-to-day functioning of SUS.




EVENT SET UP / TEAR DOWN




Set up tables, chairs, podium, stages, etc. for events on-site (Evered Hall S1114, S1116, S1118) Ensure event/room set-ups and tear-downs are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently; Move panels in the Evered Hall as required; Set up stage, riser, and ramp as required; Maintain organization of storage room; Performing other duties as requested; Conduct regular inspections of the facility and reporting any maintenance or custodial concerns to the Facilities Operations Manager; Maintain inventory and examine rental equipment after the event to ensure items are returned intact, and damaged items are documented appropriately.




QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


Willingness to learn and develop professional skills; Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times. Able to manage deadlines and plan tasks well in advance; Knowledge on A/V equipment; Physically ability to lift up to 50lbs; Superior organization and administration abilities; Work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team; Excellent verbal and written communication; First Aid skills and/or certificates will be considered an asset.




TERM OF EMPLOYMENT



Weekly schedules will be sent by the Facility Operations Manager to accommodate the employee's academic schedule. Preference will be given to current UFV Students.
