Surveyor (civil / Underground Utilities)

Job Description

The Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate measurements and data to support construction layout, design verification, and project planning. This role ensures that all work is performed according to engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements. The Surveyor works closely with project managers, superintendents, and site crews to ensure precise execution of civil and underground utilities.

Responsibilities:



Perform field surveys for layout, grade checking, and as-built data collection*
Establish and maintain survey control points and benchmarks*
Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications*
Collaborate with project managers, site superintendents and foremen to ensure layout accuracy and resolve discrepancies*
Verify elevations, alignments, and grades to ensure compliance with design requirements*
Responsible for grades and elevations onsite using survey equipment such as builders level and transit (Theodolite)*
Process and analyze field data using survey software (GPS, Robotic Total Station)*
Maintain detailed field notes, survey records, and reports*
Ensure survey equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and secure*
Daily involvement in safety-conscious activities such as tailgate meetings*
Promote and uphold company safety standards on all work sites*

Qualifications:



Diploma or degree in geomatics, survey technology, or Civil Engineering*
Minimum 2-5 years of surveying experience in civil construction. Preferably underground utilities*
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent design software*
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities*
Strong communication and teamwork skills*
Ability to travel to various jobs sites within the lower mainland*
Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract*

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
