Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Surveillance, the Surveillance Operator is responsible for the protection of Casino employees, customers, and assets, and assisting efforts to maintain adherence to company policies, controls and procedures. The Surveillance Operator conducts continuous surveillance and ensures compliance of gaming regulations and internal controls.

The Surveillance Operator must be collaborative, excel at multi-tasking and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Contributes to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia\'s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitors, documents and reports violations and large cash/cash equivalent transactions
  • Manage excluded and self-excluded guests and all unauthorized access
  • Report violations to the Shift Manager, Surveillance
  • Maintains logs and records
  • Communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Builds strong working relationships regulatory agencies
  • Complies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, employees, vendors and regulators
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Finds ways to play; you are serious about work, without being serious
  • Chooses to make everyday a great day
  • Stays focused in order to be there
  • Delivers an exceptional entertainment experience to internal and external guests to ensure you make their day
Education and Qualifications
  • Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and "All about the guest" attitude!
  • Minimum Grade 12 education (or equivalent) is required
  • Surveillance Certification is required- can complete onsite
  • Must be or able to be certified by Service Nova Scotia, Alcohol and Gaming Division
  • Post -secondary education in criminology or suitable combination of education and experience is an asset
  • Excellent attendance and work record is required
  • Previous Casino and/or Security experience is an asset
  • Must have demonstrated, thorough knowledge of the Surveillance Department\'s role as a support function, and its mandate as it relates to the NS Gaming Regulations, Casino internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Must have sound decision-making abilities and must excel in weighing risks within the regulated environment
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours/days
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with little supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent recall skills, memory retention, visual and mental acuity skills
