We have an excellent opportunity for a Surgical Processor at Marshall Eliuk Peace River Community Health Center. You will perform an essential service within the health care setting by providing safe, clean surgical equipment for our physicians and healthcare team. Surgical Processors collect, disassemble, decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, function test, package, sterilize, store and distribute instruments, equipment and supplies used in surgical units. You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate. The individual in this position also assembles and provides surgical supply sets and carts as ordered for scheduled and emergency surgeries, conducts inventories, monitors, orders, replenishes and rotates supplies in their work areas. In addition to your demonstrated experience and training in Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), your advanced communication skills enable you to work alongside other surgical processors, physicians, nurses and other health care workers to provide the best care to patients. The successful applicant is also comfortable working independently when required, has a sharp eye for detail, and takes pride in their work by ensuring all medical devices are handled properly while following Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). The town of Peace River is nestled in the beautiful Peace River valley and is the cultural and economic hub of the Peace Region of northwestern Alberta. The town population is about 6000 with a surrounding catchment of 10,000.
