JOB OVERVIEW
Responsibilities:
As a Surface Treatment Technician at FTAI Aviation, you will:Perform shot peening to restore component fatigue resistance and ensure compliance with OEM specifications.
Operate water jet stripping systems for controlled material removal on aerospace parts.
Conduct heat treatment processes to modify material properties for aerospace applications.
Apply chemical surface treatments such as etching, alodine, and passivation to enhance corrosion resistance.
Work with high-performance aerospace alloys including Titanium, Inconel, and Nickel-based materials.
Interpret technical drawings, repair work instructions, and process specifications to ensure correct treatment procedures.
Use precision measurement tools to verify treatment effectiveness and ensure dimensional accuracy.
Maintain detailed process records and ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA/EASA regulations.
Collaborate with quality inspectors, engineers, and machine shop technicians to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:Minimum DEP or equivalent experience, in a field related to aerospace surface treatment processes. An AEC or equivalent training in a related technical field will also be considered
Experience in at least one of the following: robotic shot peening, water jet stripping, heat treatment, and chemical coatings.
Knowledge of aerospace material properties and how they react to surface treatments.
An asset : Ability to operate automated and robotic surface treatment systems with precision.
Familiarity with FAA, EASA, and AS9100 requirements for aerospace repair and coating processes.
Hands-on experience with Titanium, Inconel, and high-strength steels.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
