SUPPORTED CLUSTER HOUSING - Unit Supervisor (Term)





New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities.

Supported Cluster Housing (SCH)

is one of the many services offered by New Directions. Cluster Housing provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community.


The Unit Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations in a community cluster apartment building which includes: fostering positive relationships with individuals living in the units, leading and supervising a team of Direct Support Workers, providing direct support to individuals living in the cluster and other duties as assigned.

Monday-Friday 7am-3pm

Job Responsibilities include

Fosters and maintains positive relationships with individuals living in the cluster and their supports to maintain effective service delivery. Provides direct support to individuals living in the cluster and ensures programming needs are met. Leads and supervises a team of Community Resource Workers. Provides effective financial management specific to individual need. Maintains standards for administration and documentation, aligned with best practice and appropriate risk management. Conducts oneself as an ambassador of New Directions, contributing to a collaborative work environment and positive regard of the organization both internally and externally. The Unit Supervisor may be required to fill in shifts in the schedule if a staffing shortage arises. This includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. Scheduled management on-call rotation for service area emergencies/crisis response.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary education in a social services field (e.g. social work, psychology, disability, and community support etc.) with experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. A minimum of 5 years experience in direct service roles in the disability services field (or a related field), with a minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Basic understanding of financial management and comfort in the regular use of Microsoft Office products. Proven knowledge and ability in decision-making, problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution. Proven ability to provide effective leadership within a team environment with respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work within the person-centered framework. Applicants are required to have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Applicants are required to have current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification. Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset.


The salary range for this

6-month Term

, 80-hour bi-weekly position is $22.07 to $28.69 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. The anticipated start date for this position is November 3, 2025.



The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver's abstract when a Driver's License is required.



This position is a part of the UFCW Local 832 Union Collective Agreement
