Nature of Position
Reporting to the Team Leader of Early Years Support Services, the Inclusive Community Consultant is responsible for the effective delivery of support and resources to licensed childcare facilities in Penticton and South Okanagan Similkameen region. This position will support children in multiple childcare settings, as well as supporting and consulting with childcare programs by providing resources and training to increase inclusiveness in community.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development, or an early childhood development related field (Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, Education) with a minimum of three years\' experience in inclusive childcare settings or a combination of related training and experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated knowledge of family centered practice early intervention, child development, and services that support children with developmental delays and their families.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of developmentally appropriate early childhood practice and inclusion, and the ability to model and communicate these concepts to staff, childcare settings, and families.
\xc2\xb7 Comprehensive knowledge of community childcare resources and other community support services.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of cultural and socio-economic issues, including family systems and culturally appropriate practices.
\xc2\xb7 Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to maintain a positive, professional presentation.
\xc2\xb7 Skill in administering a range of formal and informal developmental assessment tools.
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
\xc2\xb7 Ability to work independently and to manage time and workload effectively.
Requirements
\xc2\xb7 Valid BC Driver\'s License, reliable vehicle, clean driver record, and the ability to obtain business use insurance
\xc2\xb7 Successful completion of a criminal record check
