Community Living Mississauga has been a source of support for people who have an intellectual disability since 1955. Community Living Mississauga provides a variety of supports and services to people who have an intellectual disability, including: residential supports, employment resources, community engagement, Supported Independent Living, respite, and various day support options. Description of Position

Working under the guidance of the Manager, this position is responsible for both the individualized support of people as directed in their personal support plans as well as for demonstrating leadership, accountability and the ability to coach and mentor the support team. Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends. The Team Leader is responsible for, but not limited to, the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Description of Duties

Provide support to people who have an intellectual disability, based on their personal goals and support plan.
Support may include assisting with daily activities, personal care, medication administration and meal preparation.
Monitor & support health issues for each person supported as required.
Assist people supported to ensure their home is well maintained and image enhancing.
Encourage self-expression of people supported, and utilize knowledge of verbal and nonverbal communications, including alternative communication systems and techniques.
Promote community inclusion, independence and self-determination for people supported.
Stay informed about and utilize community resources.
Work collaboratively with their team, the people supported and their families to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
Apply techniques and understand concepts related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI).
Coordinate and ensure completion of specific documents including inspections, checklists, audits, repairs and maintenance and budget expenditures in collaboration with the manager.
Act as a mentor and role model to team members.

Qualifications

Developmental Services Worker Diploma (preferred), or Social Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma with some experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
Will consider a University Degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
Team Leader experience preferred.
Must have a valid Ontario Driver\'s License (Class G or G2), access to a reliable vehicle and Insurance.
Current standard First Aid / Level A CPR certificate required.
Proficient with PC computer environment; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other software.
Good conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with families as necessary.
Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Bilingualism in English/French or other language would be considered an asset.
