Reporting to the Manager, Transition Houses, the Support Worker provides support to women who have experiences intimate partner violence and who are living in a second stage transition house.


What you'll be doing:




Providing the following to residents of the second stage program and to ex-residents: Orientation Emotional Support Safety Planning Advocacy with government and community agencies Court accompaniment Assistance to apply for long term subsidized housing Information and Referrals Responding to emergencies during shift Organizing and facilitating resident events and celebrations including: Shopping Cooking Selecting and wrapping gifts Hosting Clean up Managing donations Receiving donations and organizing the donation room Fairly distributing donations Working collaboratively with Fund Development Team to thank donors Other duties as required

What you'll need:




A minimum of 2 years post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year related experience Experience working with women and non-binary people who have experienced intimate partner violence A feminist understanding of the root causes of violence by intimate partners Excellent communication skills Trauma-informed Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills An understanding of the criminal and family justice systems as they pertain to intimate partner violence Team player Able to work independently and be self-motivated Experience with/willingness to learn to use: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, ADP, Concur, Safety Line and Relias. A valid clear criminal records check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
