We currently have an opening for a Full-Time Support Worker in our Supported Living Program. This role involves working with autistic adults in a home environment, delivering person-centered programming that promotes skill development and independence. We're looking for a resourceful, motivated, and collaborative individual who values inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful engagement. The ideal candidate will help build and maintain a safe, positive space that supports participants' well-being and skill development.
Our team provides support 24 hours a day at a single location. This position offers 80 hours of work over a two-week period, with most shifts lasting 12 hours and some 8-hour shifts. Shifts take place between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on a rotating schedule, and applicants must be available to work any day of the week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide person-centered support to adults
Design, implement and monitor progress of daily living, employment and recreational programs in-line with person centred plans
Educate and assist residents in the areas of: community participation, exercise, self-care, social skills, medical care, cooking, cleaning, life skills, budgeting, time management, mental health awareness
Accompany residents to doctors' visits and be able to speak professionally regarding their health and mental health
Collaborate with the team to develop best care practices and individual support plans
Build positive relationships with family, community members, and other professionals involved
Demonstrate a professional, engaging, and supportive approach that respects residents' dignity and aligns with ARC's mission and vision
Produce clear, high-quality written communication and reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed or currently pursuing a diploma or degree in a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent work experience
Strong knowledge and understanding of autism and mental health conditions
Experience supporting individuals with autism, cognitive disabilities, and/or mental health conditions
Experience working in a supported living environment with young adults an asset
Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledge of effective support strategies for adults
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to actively participate in community activities with the residents
Applicants must have a valid Saskatchewan driver license with access to a vehicle. The successful candidate will be required to submit a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
