SUPPORT WORKER POSITION: ASSISTING

AUTISTIC YOUNG MAN WITH COMMUNITY INCLUSION

If so, it\'s time to consider working for a Microboard! We are a small non-profit with the sole purpose of ensuring that Gabe, a young man with disabilities, can lead a self-directed life. Join our team of compassionate and dependable support workers!

Gabe is autistic, has a cognitive disability and has ADHD. He requires 1:1 support and coaching, for his energy, enthusiasm, and abilities, which could include future employment or volunteering opportunities. He is purpose oriented and likes to get things done! IF you are also positive and energetic and want to help Gabe channel his abilities and find his place in the community, read on.

In joining our team of outgoing, and communicative caregivers, you will play an important role in paving the way for Gabe to find purposeful activities in his community. Some of this time will also be spent supporting Gabe at home. This is an autonomous position, so we\'re looking for individuals that are self-motivated and willing to learn through experience and by receiving feedback. Your days with Gabe will often be physically active, supporting him as he walks his golden retriever, Archie.

JOB TYPE: Part-time or Full-time PAY: Biweekly from $20.00 per hour

HOURS PER WEEK: 15-35

REQUIREMENTS: 1st Aid certificate /willing to train Clean criminal record check Proof of COVID-19 vaccination Clean driver\'s abstract

WORK LOCATION: Vancouver west side family home and surrounding community

SUPPORT WORKER DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

-Provide companionship and be a responsive and supportive listener.

-Help access community and pursue interests, cultivate hobbies, engage in social activities -Provide support with potential volunteering or work placement opportunities -Maintain a communication book for others to review

Background knowledge and experience with disabilities / autism / ADHD would be an asset.
