, leaders in clinical and criminal psychological and mental health support are currently seeking candidates interested in a part-time opportunity as a
Residential Support Worker
to join our team.
Shifts will be Saturday 9am-5pm and Monday 3-11pm.
There will be occasional opportunity for additional shifts on an as needed basis, which could include evening and overnight shifts.
This position involves providing practical life skill training, mentoring, support, crisis intervention and risk management services to clients in treatment at our practice. Clients include adults and youth, males and females, and special need populations, all of which have been in conflict with the law or are at risk of being in conflict with the law. Each shift includes supporting a variety of clients who may be living in separate homes or apartments, with tasks and programming within their residence and in the community.
The ideal candidate is committed to being a catalyst for change and wellness; is a mature, emotionally strong, confident, self-motivated individual who is comfortable taking initiative; and interested in and able to provide support, mentor, and teach skills while also able to set limits/boundaries and work from a place of client accountability. IT IS AN ASSET IF YOU HAVE:
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience.
A driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Familiarity with Indigenous culture and traditional lifestyles.
Knowledge of and/or experience participating in Indigenous traditional teachings, processes of healing and ceremonies is an asset. If this is you, we encourage you to apply and identify this in your cover letter and resume.
Candidates with this knowledge and experience will have the opportunity to work both as a support worker and as a support worker within our Traditional Support & Healing Program for Indigenous clients.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
Establish meaningful working relationships with residents and acting as a mentor and role model.
Lead and assist residents, with daily routines and life skills (e.g., self-care and hygiene, time management, cleaning and organizing in the home, shopping, cooking, budgeting).
Plan and implement recreational programming.
Build cohesion among residents in each home and across homes.
Be aware of, monitor and respond to the vulnerabilities and risk factors of residents, while reinforcing risk management plans and strategies.
Maintain safe, healthy, therapeutic homes by balancing support with applying house rules and policies.
Attend to crises.
Record and share information related to client functioning and house issues.
Work collaboratively with other staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Planning and implementing recreational programming.
Being aware of, monitoring and responding to the vulnerabilities and risk factors of our clients, as well as attending to any crises that arise.
Being aware of, supporting and reinforcing client risk management plans and strategies.
Maintaining safe, healthy, therapeutic homes by balancing support with applying house rules and policies.
Recording and sharing information related to client functioning and/or house issues (e.g., session/shift notes, emails to team, incident reports).
Working collaboratively with the other Support Workers and psychologists.
