About the role:
Under direction of the Residential Coordinator, Carling Supportive Housing is designed to support individuals who have experienced homelessness, and/or justice system involvement. The program operates under a Housing First approach and a harm reduction philosophy. Our clients will reside here long term in a safe and affordable housing with on-site supports.
As the successful candidate, you have:
Knowledge of the Housing First approach to homelessness, Ontario Land-Lord Tenant Act, SPDAT Assessment, and HIFIS
A strong commitment to supporting all residents and meet them where they are at.
Past support worker experience
Strong computer proficiency (including Word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint, and database management. Be creative to support interactive and engaging programming for the residents.
Understanding and willingness to work under a harm reduction approach.
You'll also be prepared to
Work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends
Have ownership of a vehicle and/or ability to be extremely mobile.
Participate in staff meetings and work with caseworkers to reinforce goals and life skills.
General cleaning duties such as supporting clients with unit care. Preparing vacancies for new tenants.
