Our dedicated team at Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce is committed to helping individuals with complex needs achieve a true "quality of life" which goes well beyond the basic needs of personal care. Each supported person has their own physical and emotional needs, and we strive to meet those needs daily. We have an amazing group of staff providing support for our clients and their choices, throughout our various programs and locations across the Grey-Bruce region.

We are looking for support workers to join our team to support a 24/7 community-based client located in Owen Sound.

The successful applicant needs to be willing and able to work - day, evening and night shifts.

The Ideal Candidate will possess:



Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University and 1 year of related experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities OR completion of OSS diploma and 5 years of related experience. Solid understanding of Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and additional complex needs. Strong interpersonal skills and a caring approach to working with adults with a developmental disability. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience supporting individuals with daily care requirements, behaviour support plans and individual support plans. Must have the ability to physically support young adults and adults with complex needs. Ability to complete and perform Crisis Intervention training (SM, CPI, NVCI, etc.) Must be able to diligently follow a Behavioural Support Plan and Individual Support Plan to ensure client success Have a clear criminal background check and valid First Aid/CPR certification Valid G drivers license with clean 3-year abstract Ability to work independently with excellent communication skills to collaborate with the rest of the support team

You will:



Support the individual in accessing and participating in their community Support the individual in daily activities such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, preparing for appointments and outings Support the individual in developing and maintaining personal care and hygiene needs Assist the individual in developing new skills including daily living skills, communication skills and social interaction skills Maintain ongoing communication between individual's day, recreational, respite and/or vocational programs, residential staff members and management Work as part of a team and collaborate with team members to meet collective goals and recognize the contributions of others Carry out all administrative responsibilities as assigned including completion of all the required charting, documentation, and reporting Transport the individual as needed

Take personal responsibility for learning about the Supported Individual (SI) Follow protocols and procedures for planning and day-to-day decisions Reflect on personal practice to continuously develop knowledge and skills Support SI to make appropriate choices regarding their nutritional needs Administer medication as directed, in accordance with SI needs and follow all Medication Policy and Procedures Actively encourage and support leisure and meaningful activities both inside and outside of the home, in accordance with SI interests, choices and needs Adhere to all safeguarding requirements and procedures aimed at the protection of SI and staff

Pay: $28.63-$29.68 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 44 per week
