Reporting to the Service Supervisor, the Casual Support Workerprovides flexible, short-term support for children and youth through relief, respite, and alternative care. This role is designed to assist caregivers (both in and out of the home) and ensure continuity of care services during times of increased need, placement instability, or planned respite.

Support may include day-to-day care, supervision, and behavioral support for children and youth with emotional, developmental, or behavioral needs. Work may occur in various settings such as foster homes, community homes, or temporary accommodations (e.g., hotel, Airbnb), depending on the circumstances.

This is an

on-call, as-needed position

that will require availability across a range of shifts, including

daytime, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays

. Flexibility and responsiveness are essential to meet the dynamic needs of this position.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Education and Skills:



Diploma (2-year minimum) in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Behavioural Sciences, Developmental Services, or a related field from a recognized institution. Minimum 2 years' experience in child and youth services or related human services setting preferred. Knowledge of child and youth development, trauma-informed care, and crisis response. Familiarity with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act(CYFSA) and understanding of child protection principles. Strong relationship-building, communication, and crisis intervention skills. Experience supporting children/youth with complex needs in both home and alternate care environments. Cultural competence and commitment to equality and inclusion in all areas of practice. Knowledge of local community-based resources is an asset. Training in CPI, ASIST, or similar de-escalation techniques is considered an asset. Ability to work independently and manage dynamic, unpredictable situations calmly and professionally. Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check. Eligibility to work in Canada.
