Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:
Working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilization setting
Collaborate with teams to implement care plans that support participant's involvement in person centered programs that promote educational, behavioural, developmental, psychological, and emotional growth
Creating and proving a safe, secure, and supportive environment for participants by developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships that attend to the diverse needs of youth
Navigating conflict, overcoming obstacles, and being creative in providing support to participants while remaining calm and focused in crisis situations by utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills
Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice
Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary diploma in
Child and Youth Care (CYC), Developmental Services Worker (DSW),
or
Social Service Worker (SSW)
- or an equivalent Human Services program.*
+ Please Note: Personal Support Worker (PSW) certifications do not meet the educational requirements for this position. Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support
Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team
Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries
Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets
Requirements:
Valid Class G (full) Driver's License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record
Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position
Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
