Support Staff/Receptionist - Harm Reduction & Addiction Recovery Clinic
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and harm reduction-oriented Support Staff/Receptionist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team within our addiction recovery clinic. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and community members--someone who embodies empathy, respect, and inclusivity in every interaction.
This role is essential to creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where individuals feel safe and supported. The Medical Receptionist will provide exceptional front-line care while assisting with administrative and clinical processes that ensure smooth clinic operations and person-centered service.
Duties
Welcome each person with warmth and respect, ensuring all clients feel seen, valued, and safe.
Support harm reduction principles by maintaining a nonjudgmental attitude and promoting patient autonomy.
Assist with patient check-ins, scheduling, and appointment coordination using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Prepare and complete patient intakes with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and harm reduction best practices.
Handle phone calls and inquiries with compassion, providing information and directing calls appropriately.
Collaborate closely with the clinical and support team to ensure seamless, trauma-informed care and communication.
Support clinic operations by managing supplies, organizing documents, and contributing to a calm, supportive environment.
Monitor and perform urine drug screenings in accordance with clinic protocols, maintaining dignity and respect for all clients.
Capture patients' last confirmed doses, medication lists, and medical records as required.
Follow all clinic Policies and Procedures, upholding safety and quality of care standards.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience in a healthcare or community setting, ideally within addiction, harm reduction, or mental health services.
Understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and cultural safety is strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
