Position Summary

Tender Years Co-operative School (TYC) is seeking qualified and reliable

Supply Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs)

to join our on-call staffing pool. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy flexibility and are able to step in to support classrooms as needed.

This is a

casual, on-call position with no guaranteed hours

. Shifts are offered based on the operational needs of the centre, including staff absences, increased enrollment, or other program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide attentive, nurturing, and responsive care to children in a safe and supportive environment Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate programming aligned with How Does Learning Happen?*
Supervise children during daily routines, including playtime, meals, toileting/diapering, and rest periods Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment Support inclusive practices and adapt activities to meet the needs of all children Follow all centre policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements Work collaboratively with educators and management to ensure continuity of care Communicate professionally with staff and families as appropriate Fulfill the legal duty to report suspected child abuse in accordance with legislation Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements

For RECE Applicants:

Diploma in Early Childhood Education Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)

For ECA Applicants:

Secondary School Diploma required Post-secondary education in a child-related field and/or relevant experience is an asset

General Requirements:

Experience working with children in a licensed child care setting (preferred) Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification Clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (issued within the past 6 months) Ability to work with children of various age groups Strong communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills Physical ability to meet the demands of the role (lifting, bending, active play, outdoor time) Flexibility and reliability, including the ability to accept shifts on short notice
Scheduling & Availability

Supply shifts are offered

Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Hours are

not guaranteed

and may vary week to week Availability to accept last-minute calls is considered an asset
