SLI The Sidney Ledson School is a private elementary school, located in the heart of North York. Founded in 1980, the school offers an enriched academic curriculum with a tradition of excellence in learning. Preschool - Grade 6 classes are capped at 8-12 students per class, ensuring individualised learning for every student. The school runs through the year; open for the March Break as well as for summer camp.
The school is currently seeking candidates for supply teaching positions, with the possibility of working through the summer and for full-time teaching positions available for the upcoming academic year. The school provides a complete curriculum, lesson plans, and materials.
Qualifying applicants will be required to undergo program-specific assessment and training, after which a final decision will be made on the best-suited candidates for the positions. This is a smaller school with a family-type environment, and social character skills weigh in on this final decision.
Responsibilities:
Follow the curriculum as outlined by the school (beyond the current Ontario curriculum)
Provide on-site instruction
Organise lesson plans for the effective completion of the school curriculum within the academic year
Support student learning using a variety of methods
Communicate with parents in an appropriate and professional manner
Conduct parent-teacher interviews and participate in school events
Maintain student records and prepare report cards
Skills required:
Degree, Diploma, or Certification in a field related to Education or Developmental Psychology or equivalent teaching experience
Experience in teaching elementary-age children
Experience using / teaching on an online learning platform, preferably Google Classroom and Google Meet
Fluency in written and verbal English communication
Good math skills
Ability to teach STEM material
Good classroom management
Good communication
Patience, with the ability to maintain good rapport with children, parents, and other staff members

Pay: $42,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
