Apply now for the Materials Manager position! Where does the Materials Manager fit in? Reporting to VP of Operations, the Materials Manager has total responsibility for materials planning and logistics activities that include inventory management, material planning, forecasting & replenishment, warehousing, logistics and indirect procurement. This is a critical role within the plant operations that ensure efficient scheduling, on-time customer order fulfillment and delivery. This role drives strong collaboration with finance, controlling, supply chain and program management teams within plant and corporate settings. What you can expect as our next Materials Manager:

  • Independent responsibility for material and logistics planning, inventory planning, release management, on-hand inventory accuracy, forecasting and replenishment, freight optimization.
  • Design most optimal material planning and inventory solutions, taking into consideration EBITDA, working capital and on-time execution of customer orders; Supervise, initiate, control and direct the activities of all personnel involved in ensuring on-time delivery at minimum cost of labor and materials
  • A significant contributor to the financial success of the plant operation by ensuring customer satisfaction is a key priority.
  • Ensure co-ordination between materials planning, production schedules and shipping schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Negotiate best pricing/terms and conditions for long term agreements
  • Overseeing the Materials team in their daily activities, and provide proper training and mentorship
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, Co-ordinating all sub-contracting activities
  • Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.
  • Manage Inbound/Outbound transportation and custom clearances for import/export
  • Lead continuous improvement plans as it relates to materials planning, freight management, space optimization and timely customer order fulfillment.
  • Develop analytical tools and daily best practices as it relates to inventory optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Categorizing and maintaining supplier\xe2\x80\x99s database. Act as SME to materials planning team as it relates to ERP and inventory management best practices.
  • Lead physical inventories, monitor inventory levels and adjust accordingly.
  • Work closely with the financial team to expedite receiving and A/P processes
  • Work with other members of the Operations Leadership team to develop and implement Purchase to Pay initiatives that reduce transaction cost and consolidate volume
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels and functions, to realize procurement goals and objectives
  • Prepare information/costs for justifying quote/suggested tooling/fixtures as per customer guidelines
  • Ensure all purchasing procedures are followed per company quality system
  • Perform other duties as required
Are you our next Materials Manager?
  • Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree in related field (Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering)
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in Materials and/or Logistics in the automotive industry and a working knowledge of international materials process planning
  • Experience in the Plastics industry is an asset
  • Supervisory and management experience
  • Knowledge of raw materials planning systems (MRP), production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of inventory control.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution operations.
  • Knowledge of pertinent local, state/provincial and federal laws, ordinances and rules.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and the coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, safety, quality, operations, and materials as needed to determine how these areas are interrelated.
  • Ability to plan for forthcoming projects as well ensure smooth running of current/concurrent projects.
  • Ability to obtain and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, train and evaluate assigned staff
  • Flexible to travel and work long hours as necessary
  • Results-oriented, determine and track KPIs Proficiency in Microsoft office and related software
