Supply Chain Manager – JBS Foods Ontario Inc. With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. We are very proud to have a team of high achieving, engaged employees. We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join our team at our JBS Ontario facility in Belleville, ON. Reporting to the General Manager, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for conducting ongoing product related analyses, ordering and tracking all raw materials required to meet customer requirements. This role is critical in meeting JBS Foods Ontario customer commitments on product quality, specifications, timing and production by having the right product available, in the correct quantities to meet customer orders at all times. Product specifications on each order are critical to meet JBS Foods Ontario production commitments. Ongoing communication with suppliers, transportation companies, production management and the customer’s representatives are critical to succeed within this role. Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organize and mentor the supply chain staff, along with managing their day to day activities.
  • Facilitate the achievement of Company objectives in terms meeting customer orders, and customer service objectives.
  • Identifying the raw material, ingredients, sundry items and equipment requirements to meet customer demands.
  • Ensuring that raw materials, ingredients, sundry items and equipment orders are placed, confirmed, shipped and received in a timely fashion.
  • Issuing purchasing orders for items required to support production and ensure on time delivery and ensuring the accuracy of these PO’s for entry within the Service Centre’s financial record keeping system.
  • Coordinate the logistics of inbound freight of raw material and supplies, including dry goods and materials
  • Responsible for the procurement, storage and movement of raw materials under HACCP guidelines and customer specifications
  • Managing the requirements of the Company’s production and ERP system (SI) to accurately record all production materials, goods and supplies
  • Ensures proper training for receiving and shipping staff to accurately record the incoming and outbound products within the ERP system.
  • Negotiates alliances with suppliers, and maintaining procurement records.
Inbound product and supplies:
  • Coordinate the logistics of inbound freight with vendors, suppliers and third party transport
  • Responsible for all aspects of the scheduling process, including issuing purchasing order release for items required to support production and supplier on-time delivery
  • Accountable for supply chain budget spend
  • In conjunction with customer, organize the procurement, storage, and movement of raw materials under HACCP guidelines and customer specifications
  • Responsible for purchase of all dry supplies
  • Prepare purchase orders and communicate with suppliers, and maintain procurement records
Coordination with Production:
  • Understanding of primal breakdown to ensure production capacity to meet customer production requirements from available product
  • Ensuring timely and accurate records for availability of product to meet production requirements
  • Conducting analyses on yields, product specifications with production supervisors and management
General Process Improvement and SC support:
  • Commit to continuous process improvement
  • Facilitate achievement of objectives in terms of product quality, efficiency targets, and customer service
  • Enforces HACCP procedures and demonstrates ongoing commitment to food safety
  • Additional duties as assigned
Your Skills and Competencies
  • Higher or further education in Business, Operations Management or related area;
  • 2 -5 years of related experience, preferably within the manufacturing / food processing sector.
  • Knowledge of databases, ERPs and procurement systems
  • Knowledge of the meat or food industry
  • Advanced analytical skills, particularly on Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications
  • Possess excellent public relations, conflict resolution and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • WHMIS, HACCP and food safety training and commitment
  • Excellent time management skills in handling multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines
