The Role

Start Date: January 11, 2022

Preferred Work Term Length: 16 months

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Commerce/Business Administration with focus in Supply Chain Management

Preferred year of study: 3rd or 4th year

Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in a formal co-op/internship program with their post-secondary institution OR Students must be returning to their post-secondary institution after this work term

Location: Calgary, Alberta

We're seeking a Supply Chain Management Co-op Student to join our North America - Supply Chain Management, Contracts & Procurement team. Reporting to different Leaders in Supply Chain Management, youll be working with a team of dedicated employees across North America.

During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging projects and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term. You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company. To succeed, you'll need to cultivate and communicate a clear vision and set goals for yourself, whilst also juggling individual country specific targets.

Some of the key responsibilities of the Supply Chain Management Co-op Student will be:

Contracts

  • Assist in the development of contracting & procurement strategies;
  • Support Contract Analyst in pre-award activities including but not limited to preparing RFx documents, collecting bidders' information, compiling stakeholder feedback, populating evaluations, conducting commercial analysis, preparing award documentation, conforming contracts, completing tasks in Contract Management System (Ivalua);
  • Manage contract post-award activities including but not limited to preparing and executing contract documents (work releases, change orders, etc), maintaining supplier relations, coordinating proponent collaboration, maintaining price lists, instituting Supply Relationship Management (SRM) implementation where applicable, resolving contract reconciliations based on commercial terms / audit findings, and completing contract close-outs;
  • Actively participate in assigned project(s) by providing commercial support, coordinating preparation activities, and executing assigned contracting requirements;
  • Manage assigned contracts to capture value creation for the Company (cost reduction, cost avoidance and efficiency improvement initiatives). Report value creation results as requested;
  • Manage and maintain assigned contracts in the Contract Management System (Ivalua);
  • Ensure that assigned service requests, contracts, and associated SAP documents are completed prior to any services being provided or goods being delivered, and are appropriately managed throughout the life of the project and then properly closed out;
Governance and Analysis
  • Perform data analysis of present and historical commercial spend and assist in creating reporting for our headquarters in Beijing.
  • Interface with other Supply Chain groups, negotiate and assign against category agreements, and leverage expenditures across the Company where possible;
  • Liaise with Legal and other assisting departments (Tax, HS E, Finance, CCAR, etc) involved in the supply chain process for the project(s);
  • Diligently and earnestly complete any administrative tasks or cleanup activities;
  • Apply critical thinking to review SCM processes and use knowledge from studies to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Ensure compliance with the Company's policies and procedures at all times.
Materials Management
  • Analysis of Operational Inventory usage and burn rate
  • Involved with commercial analysis of Materials Spend, logistics and project needs
  • Customs brokerage, transportation and scheduling
  • Working within SAP system you will create Requests for Quotes and issue Material Purchase Orders
  • You will be responsible for expediting orders and trouble shooting any related issues
