JOB SUMMARY & REQUIREMENTS * As a Leader of the Volunteer Resources team, the Volunteer Resources Supervisor provides support for the HR functions related to volunteer recruitment, and general HR functions as applied to volunteers for their client portfolios and the organization. The Volunteer Resources Supervisor provides leadership and support the volunteer program to meet the needs of over 750 volunteers working in 80 services. The Volunteer Resources Supervisor supports many aspects of the volunteer life cycle from recruitment, retention to recognition. They promote volunteer engagement practices to support and monitor desired outcomes and coach volunteer and staff on desired outcomes. They assess organizational needs and opportunities related to volunteers and service development. Additionally, the Volunteer Resources Supervisor coordinates and leads training for volunteers, team leaders and trainers. The Volunteer Resources Supervisor establishes a strong working relationship and partnership with the RVH Auxiliary to support their fundraising initiatives that positively impact the patient experience.

Education:

  • A diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Business/Human Resources or other related field required
  • Completion of a professional development program in human resource management is mandatory
  • CHRP designation, preferred
  • Certified Volunteer Resources Management designation, preferred

Experience:
  • Recent experience working in a similar Human Resources capacity required
  • Experience working within a unionized and/or healthcare environment preferred
  • Experience with volunteer scheduling systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply employment legislations (e.g., Human Rights, Health & Safety, Privacy, etc.), policies and guidelines.
  • Experience and knowledge of electronic systems including MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project, PeopleSoft, email, internet and interoffice communication systems and equipment
  • Experience using Volunteer Resources Information Systems

  • Knowledge and understanding of Human Resources metrics as they can be applied to volunteers
  • Solid understanding and use of project management and ability to balance and manage multiple interests.
  • Strong computer skills – Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Leadership skills to coach volunteers and staff to support desired outcomes
  • Working knowledge of volunteer management best practices
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be self-directed, show initiative and work effectively as part of a team
  • Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to address concerns with tact and diplomacy while focused on the My Care values
  • Ability to analyze data and develop reports and work plans
